Description:
Hi all,
Im so sad to list this bike, but my garage chaos is not fixing itself, and no matter how much I love it, Im not riding it enough.
N.B.: this is for 1 bike + 2nd wheelset + 2nd fork (2 wheelsets, 2 forks).
For the uninitiated, Dobermann was a small Canadian brand manufacturing frames from 2005 until 2015. They had already developed a following for their Pinscher dirt jump/park bike (hardtail 26) when they pioneered the Le Pink, a single-speed focused, steel framed, full suspension frame based on the same geometry as the Pinscher. Think full suspension dirt jumper/(skate)park bike, and a pioneer that laid the groundwork for the arguable slopestyle copycats like the Specialized P.Slope. Concentric-BB pivot means no chain growth and easy SS setup.
I bought this bike from someone who worked for Oak Bay bikes in 2013 with a roached Pike and otherwise mostly the same parts you see here. I found a used TALAS to replace the Pike and installed a DHF-Ardent pairing. It was my only bike and I rode it on everything from the North Shore and Whistler Bike Park gnar, to pumptracks and dirt jumps around Vancouver and Squamish. When I eventually bought an actual mtb (lol) I upgraded the stem/bars, removed the front brake, and bought a Manitou Circus, swapping to a gifted wheelset with small block 8s, to better suit the more specific urban assault/pumptrack/DJ usage the bike was seeing. Then I ended up with my first ever BMX and the Le Pink became a mtb trainer for my now-wife, seeing less and less use as the years passed and she got her own actual mtb. Now I just look at it with love and think how it deserves to be ridden.
In my opinion, the Le Pink rides like a well-sorted 26 full-suspension BMX. If thats your thing, you already know youll love it. If you dont think thats your thing, keep your mind open because the contrast between a bike like this and a 29 enduro sled is significant and enjoyable. Pumping the tiniest rolls/transitions generates incredible accelerations, manuals are easy and fun, and riding can be very playful. It can also be very difficult, similar to the feeling of riding a BMX if you havent grown up on one - this bike will not dumb down the trails. It definitely keeps the spice alive! If I wasnt enjoying my BMX so much these days Id definitely be riding this a ton - but between 2 proper mtbs and a BMX the overlap is just too great and I have too many bikes. I was always curious how it would ride with a 24 rear wheel but never did experiment. Worth a try!
As I do love this bike quite a bit, Im not interested in low-ball offers. If I cant get a fair price for it, Ill just hang onto it and keep riding it occasionally.
Id prefer to sell locally, but if youve been searching high and low for a Le Pink I can look into shipping it for you.
Size: supposedly the long size, but Im unable to confirm this.
