Description:
This is a beautiful custom steel gravel grinder with a combination of lugging and perfect brazing. A creative custom one off head badge finishes the package out. Boedie is a frame builder based out of Whitfish, MT he has worked in the bike industry for close to 30 years and has been building bikes for 14 years. He does not chase the spotlight so you most definitely have not heard of him. Check out the website.
Well, now about the bike. I had this built as a bike with slightly relaxed cyclocross geometry for the occasional cyclo race, but with the capability of fenders and rear panniers for touring. My main goal was to spend time gravel grinding with some mild single track. I wanted 1x compatibility only, this allowed the chain stays to accept a bigger tire if I would up doing more dirt road touring. I had planned on getting a different fork for touring side of things so I could run wider tires to match this but never did. A tinkerer could also add a disc brake up front if they felt the need for more stopping power. Not sure exactly how big the rear could go, but plenty of space around the 40C tire in the frame. The current fork is an all carbon alpha Q cross race fork which rides amazing! No fender mounts or anything though and could fit a slightly larger tire, but not much. This bike will fit most normal body types 5’ 9” (maybe slightly smaller) to 5’ 11” possibly taller.
Ultimately this bike rips and it will be sad to see it go, but it should be ridden more and I would like to fund my next Boedie project.
Why am I selling? Well it turns out I like having a 2x drivetrain and would like almost the exact same bike that can accept a 2x drivetrain. Due mainly to the fact I have not ridden much over the past few years I have about 200 miles on the drivetrain and bike itself. Scratches all accrued in transport/storage.
Cons: Since I know the owner, I asked him if he could save me some money by getting a cheaper paint job. He allowed me to do this, thus the paint chips fairly easily. I would recommend the new owner use 3m protective tape in the high wear areas or everywhere.
Water bottle cages/pedals/seat (unless you really want these) not included in sale.
I am happy to communicate via pinkbike, just shoot a text to let me know I have a message. Cheers, Jess 406 212 9497. Bike is located in Winthrop, WA. I will consider a similar bike with 2x gearing, though I would rather sell this to fund my next custom Boedie build.
