Description:
April Lawyer’s (Team Maxxis) custom downhill Dare Pink Bike is a winner in Monterrey, CA USA, April 12-15, 2007. Specs are still competitive today. I represent that this bike is in pristine condition.
April Lawyer was one of the top riders in downhill, having earned a silver medal at the 2001 X Games, consistently placing in the top three at national mountain bike races, and won a second-place World Cup finish before the Sea Otter Classic.
This Dare has only been assembled once for the Sea Otter Classic in 2007. In the meantime, it has been kept bubble wrapped in dry air-conditioned storage. It is in immaculate condition and shows no sign of even being assembled once. It weighs slightly less than 4.8 lbs. which is remarkable for such a custom reinforced bike.
The RC2 Fox Float 40 is in its original packaging and has also been used only once, is also excellent, but not as excellent as the Dare frame. It comes with two brand new replacement springs. It also remains an immaculate part of the Sea Otter Classic’s exciting history.
Boasting 229 mm (over 9 inches) of ICT tuned travel combined with low and slack geometry, with a 64 mm head tube angle, the Dare is an uncompromised, lightweight downhill race machine. The CNC machined rockers are the strongest and lightest ever produced.
The ICT Technology: Instant Center Tracking is internationally patented and quantifiably the most energy-efficient suspension design in the world, period. Internationally acclaimed, ICT four-bar linkage technology provides 100% pedal power efficiency by aligning the instant center of the linkage on the chain torque line and continually tracking it throughout the range of travel. ICT allows pedal power to propel the rider forward without power loss, effectively avoiding the common suspension design flaw that divides pedal inputs into a wasteful combination of forward and vertical (jacking or bobbing) motions. ICT-equipped bikes are legendary for their rare combination of responsive performance and plush suspension that can be found no other MTB design. All ICT-equipped bikes feature 12mm pivot axles and over-sized bearings for superior pivot stability and lateral stiffness under power. This Dare continues to raise the limits of suspension technology, innovation and performance.
The Dare accelerates in and out of corners like no other. A finely tuned missile known for its magical handling, stiff rail like maneuverability and snappy acceleration-the Dare remains fully active whether on the brakes or the gas, and when youre done tearing up the race course, tackle the steepest, roughest back-country around.
My dilemma, and yours, will be to assemble and use it, or keep it in its current pristine condition as it is indeed a Sea Otter Classic.
