Notes–
This was last winters project. Complete rebuild, frame up. Frame and fork serial numbers match. Dura Ace drivetrain and brakes were full disassemble, plenty of cleaning, air compressor to 100% clean & dry, careful reassemble. Bottom bracket and headset installed by expert mechanic Matt Smythe at Ascent, a local bike shop. Bottom bracket shell threads were tapped first, and bottom bracket and headset were lightly re-faced to produce excellent results. I cleaned the frame and fork, but did not re-paint, or wax, anything. I removed the original Cromor decals from the fork during cleaning, but did not spring for a replacement decal set. Leaving it to the buyer to decide if theyre keeping the factory paint, or re-painting.
Parts purchased new for this project: handlebars, stem, seat post, seat post binder bolt, chain, tires, valves.
Heads Up–
There was a small amount of surface rust in the bottom bracket shell, which I cleaned with baking soda, lemon juice, and a tooth brush over many days. Its pretty much gone. Very small amount of surface rust visible near the inside of the bottom bracket shell.
This frame has a factory mis-drilled water bottle cage mount on the downtube. The lower mount is off by about 3 or 4 mm. See pictures.
I installed Dura Ace 9 speed indexed downtube shifters, and 9 speed Brifters (brake cable only). I will include a set of Dura Ace BL-7401 aero (brake cable runs under bar tape) brake levers. They require ferrule stops to function. Many people use a set of threaded brake cable barrel adjusters from a set of 1980s MTB brake levers to make this work. They are included, so the buyer has their choice of shifting on downtube, or at the Brifters.
The rear skewer (quick release) is Ultegra.
I didnt overhaul the hubs (they spin fine butter smooth, and came in excellent condition).
Results–
Im a very careful amateur bike mechanic, with high standards. Mechanically, this bike is dialled.
Will ship to Canada or US, at buyers expense. US buyers–I live in Canada, close to our shared border, and will consider driving this bike to Sweetgrass, MT, and shipping from their USPS outlet. Bike will be partly disassembled, and carefully packaged in a bike box for shipping.
